چکیده
Widely available digital technologies are empowering citizens who increasingly well informed and involved in numerous water, climate, environmental challenges. Citizen science can serve many different purposes, from the “pleasure of doing science” to complementing observations, increasing scientific literacy, supporting collaborative behaviour solve specific water management problems. Still, procedures on how incorporate citizens’ knowledge effectively inform policy decision-making lagging behind. Moreover, general conceptual frameworks unavailable, preventing widespread uptake citizen approaches for more participatory cross-sectorial governance. In this work, we identify shared constituents, interfaces, interlinkages between hydrological sciences other academic non-academic disciplines addressing issues. Our goal is conceptualize a transdisciplinary framework valuing advancing sciences. Joint efforts hydrological, computer, social envisaged integrating human sensing behavioural mechanisms into framework. Expanding opportunities online communities complement fundamental value on-site surveying indigenous knowledge. This work promoted by Citizens AND HYdrology (CANDHY) Working Group established International Association Hydrological Sciences (IAHS).

Volume 17, Number 1 184 we really know about these organisms, and the difficulties in establishing terrariums with mating pairs. I really appreciate that she includes her e-mail correspondence with experts because it demonstrates the dynamic between scientists and the citizens aiding them in their pursuit of knowledge. She does a good job of painting the picture of a novice starting an adventur...
متن کاملMachine Learning and Citizen Science: Opportunities and Challenges of Human-Computer Interaction
Background and Aim: In processing large data, scientists have to perform the tedious task of analyzing hefty bulk of data. Machine learning techniques are a potential solution to this problem. In citizen science, human and artificial intelligence may be unified to facilitate this effort. Considering the ambiguities in machine performance and management of user-generated data, this paper aims to...
متن کاملAddressing LISA Science Analysis Challenges
Science analysis is the process by which observations are transformed into scientific insight and understanding. In the same way that even the most artful analysis cannot compensate for poor data, so even the best instruments and observational skill can compensate for an inability to adequately analyze the data. LISA is no exception. Exactly because LISA is a pathfinder for a new scientific dis...
متن کاملInforming Science Challenges to Informing Clients: A Transdisciplinary Approach
Efficient delivery of relevant product information is increasingly becoming the central basis of competition between firms. The interface design represents the central component for successful information delivery to consumers. However, interface design for web-based information systems is probably more an art than a science at this point in time. Much research is needed to understand propertie...
